Report of cluster bombing sanitised by Montrose
Early yesterday Richard Downes reported how his vehicle was attacked by US planes dropping cluster bombs in a residential market area. He mentioned seeing an Iraqi tank dug into a house nearby but scoffed at the idea it was the US target as it was not visible from the air.
By later news broadcasts he had obviously been told what to say (by who?). He now declared that the tank in the house was the target and that it was the Iraqis who were acting illegally. See how a little lie can shift responsibility?
No, Richard you liar, the Iraqi people are fighting a war of liberation against an invading army. They can hide in their homes or fight any way they want beacuse they are defending their country. Don't try an excuse the US murder by blaming it on the Iraqi people for how they defend their families.
Joe Duffy was good enough to run a propaganda show too for the US/UK. He allowed two pro-war chauvanist pigs to gang up on a young woman from the Naked Protest. More fascinated by female nudeness and scoffing the pigs referred to the young woman as "my Dear" on five occaisions while she managed to remain calm.
The producer of the show was not so tolerant when I rang to complain. She became angry, then furious and then hung up when I made my points interspersed with "My Dear". She found me referring to her as "my Dear" as being insulting but was happy to sit back like Joe and Pigs did to see if the young woman would lose her cool- she didn't .
When this act of mass murder is over RTE will have to answer for it's crimes. It is their duty to report to the people of Ireland fairly and accurately and there are numerous examples of their deliberate lies.

In fairness to Richard Downes he does a fair job and for him to come on telly and say categorically that cluster bombs should not be used in regional areas is quite a step. I did not see the later reports but given that he narrowly escaped being killed and was obviously furious and frightened on the earlier report, I would be willing to give him a bit of leeway. I think the issue is not Richard Downes himself but rather RTÉ and their terrible broadcasting of any news, their censorship of a whole range of issues, their undermining of protests through coverage and reluctance to give proper details of numbers turning out, and their willingness to broadcast what they are told by the American Propaganda machine. In fact, although I live in four channel lands I would sooner wait up til 3am and watch Euronews before I believe in what RTÉ says.
I think it is a shame that it is up to us to root around to find out any information on what is really gone, but that is probably why you are on this site now and it is a responsibility we are obviously willing to take more and more now. Hopefully RTÉ will find their terrible broadcasting leads to less viewers...
These hacks are paid for this, the sooner rte is scrapped and ends up in the dustbin of history with rupert murddock liars the better. This war, Kosovo and the Amsterdam and Nice treaties the list of RTE spin doctoring of the news goes on and on we would be much better off without rte's censorship, spin and lies
