Bush's plans were not affected by the threats

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Monday April 07, 2003 16:41author by USA TODAY Report this post to the editors

Bush's plans were not affected by the threats because he was not scheduled to use the highway and was flying into a different airport.

Police said a telephone caller claiming to represent Irish Republican Army dissidents warned that a bomb was in the terminal at Belfast City Airport, in east Belfast.

The threat, delivered in the name of the Real IRA, forced police to close a major road near the airport for about two hours, snarling morning rush-hour traffic.

Police declared the threat a hoax after finding nothing suspicious, and both the road and airport reopened.

Where did those six SAM 7 missiles that used to live around Forkhill go to?

Do you think they've gone away?

This could be a good day yet!

Another touch of "friendly fire"

Perfectly justified by Mr Bushes own pre-emptive policy

George W Bush travelled to Andrews Air Force base from the White House earlier. He then boarded Air Force One, bound for Aldergrove Airport, near Belfast. Air Force One is expected to land at Aldergrove at 6pm.

The US President will be brought by helicopter to Hillsborough Castle in County Down. He will then review the war in Iraq with Tony Blair.

They will discuss the Middle East tomorrow morning before hosting a joint news conference at 11am.

North talks tomorrow

The Taoiseach will arrive at Hillsborough at noon for a bilateral meeting with President Bush.

Tony Blair will join them for discussions with the North's pro power-sharing parties until President Bush leaves at 2.30pm.

If that programme is followed, the first visit by George W Bush to the island of Ireland will see him spend just over 20 hours here.

Thanx for detailing his schedule and plans. I hear someone has phoned in a bombscare to aldegrove.

author by Seanpublication date Mon Apr 07, 2003 18:03author address author phone Report this post to the editors

The bombscare was for the Belfast City Airport.
The phonecall hoax was made by someone identifying himself as a member of the Cokes.
It did not affect Bush´s visit.
Wrong aiport.
Its time to bring out the SAMs!
