Belfast Anti War Movement Action Today and Beyond

Actions today on Belfast streets by Belfast Anti War Movement.

Yesterday a joint press conference was held in Belfast by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions {ICTU} and Schools Against War {SAW} with representatives from St Donomics W/Belfast and Methody S/Belfast and ICTU jointly calling for students and workers to lend support for upcoming actions against the war. Later the N.Irish coalition co ordinated by ICTU decided that a Schools Against War {SAW} representative would speak on behalf of all students in the North at Saturdays mass rally in Belfast with the Derry coalition organising similar actions in Derry.

Today at lunchtime SAW members have organised walkouts and Marches from their schools from all over Belfast. They will be joined by teachers, lectures and other education workers and other workers will walk out in solidarity. There may also be occupations of colleges and universites and many other forms of actions.

Tomorrow will see rallies across the North organised by the coalition with similar actions taking place by groups involved. Saturday will see feeder marches oraganised by Belfast Anti War movement from around Belfast.

West Belfast now has five anti war groups established with others in schools and are calling for people to mobilise at the bottom of the Whiterock Falls Rd at 1pm this Saturday to march down the Falls to the main rally. See Ya there
