we organised a protest in our school yesterday and did so because we are seriously anti-war. i know that some people in our school didnt bother staying for our protest and instead went to the 1 in town. i spoke to some of them who were going, mainly 2nd years, and it was so obvious that they werent going because they were seriously against the war, they just saw it as an oppurtunity to miss school. if students really want to do something worthwhile theyll protest during break time and invite a speaker if they can so the students can actually learn something and those who arent so sure of whats goin on can find out.they have to actually give up some of their own time otherwise they should stop making a bad name for students by acting like idiots.
i do apologise to whoever not another anarchist for my views but this is exactly the sort of shit that is likely to be the death of the anti war movement.the fact that someone adheres to anarchist theory ought not make him or her an object of derision.there is always a huge turnout of anarchists at the protests in shannon and i had the pleasure of marching with about 200 anarchists at the protest in dublin on fed 17.I dont know you and i dont know much about what youve done and if it was you who organised the antiwar protest in your school well done.i have brought between 20 and 30 people from my school to every protest in shannon and about 25 up to dublin i am an anarchist and we have just as important a part to play as anyone else so stop the slaggin.
sorry if you were offended, i never had anything against anarchists but when i see them trying ruin our protest in school by calling for mass civil disobedience by just urging every1 to walk out of class and do nothing i get annoyed. there are better ways. plus i was also annoyed when i saw anarchists calling on people to tear down the fence at shannon. that was a bad idea that wouldnt have achieved anything. im sure youre great people and its great that you get loadsa people to the protests, but i just wanna know when theyre calling on people to leave class is it because theyre desperate to make theyre anti-war stance known?i personally know that most girls (whom i know are anarchists) who wanted to "walkout against war" were annoyed when i told them our protest wasnt gonna run through school time!
