US Military expansionism began under Reagan with the invasion of Grenada
Grenada in 1983 was where the present phase of US military expansionism/interventionism began.
Judging from many glib postings to this site over the past few weeks in support of the US expansionist policies some people are obviously in need of a little historical perspective.
Grenada in 1983 was where the present phase of US military expansionism/interventionism began and from the news reports at the time and media manipulation by the US it can be seen how easy it was for the US to invent pretexts for invasion which were shown to be without foundation after the fact.
I remember being delighted and amused that a few hundred Cuban constuction workers with militia training at the time managed to keep the US war machine at bay for several days http://www.awigp.com/default.asp?numcat=Edito_suite14.
Shapes of things to come in Somalia and perhaps yet in Iraq?
By the way the US backed coup installed a government which has kept the former government in prison for nearly 20 years without trial ... that's democracy for you http://www.grenada17.cwc.net/!
Human rights are obviously very much open to interpretation by the US regeime and its proxies.
