Israelis ethnically cleanse the Negev

Bedouin villages destroyed because they're not 'civilised'

Zionazi government establishes bantustan in the Negev desert by expelling bedouin who've lived there for generations before the state of Israel was established.

Dozens of "illegal" bedouin villages and mosques across the Negev desert have been demolished by Israel's interior ministry.

The state wants to eradicate the bedouin and confiscate their land, they want to establish a Jewish settlement in the Negev. The Zionazi government justifies its actions by saying the bedouin don't have planning permission to build homes that have existed since before the state of Israel existed.

The Negev desert is Israel's next frontier. It accounts for about half the country's land but is home to less than one in 10 of the population. That makes it an ideal site for new settlements to accommodate some of the hundreds of thousands of Jewish immigrants the government expects in the coming years.

Five years ago, Ariel Sharon, then the interior minister, declared that the bedouin had disappeared and the Negev was empty "but for a few goats and sheep" which he promised "to deal with".

The campaign to clear the desert of all bedouin is continued today by the Jewish Agency for Israel which spearheads the government's efforts to bring another million Jews to Israel by 2010.

About half of the Negev's 140,000 bedouin have been cajoled or enticed out of the desert and into seven "recognised villages" or development towns that are little better than sprawling urban dumps. But the 70,000 or so bedouin who remain in the Negev say they are determined not to budge, not least because many of those who agreed to be resettled now regret it.

The resettled Arabs can only lease, not own, the land their houses stand on. And while neighbouring Jewish settlements are heavily subsidised and provided with quality services, the bedouin crammed into the seven towns lack proper sewage, roads and sometimes even homes.

Funny this item has not been deleted because of its anti-Israel stance. How come an article of an anti-arab stance was deleted almost as soon as it was posted yesterday?
Whats Indymedia's policy? Anti american and anti semetic is quite allright but anti anything else is not P.C.?If your going to proclaim yourselves as being free media,be free and don't be censoring things just because the content of it might not agree with you.

This article exposes the reality of Israeli racism towards Arabs.

Bush in his speech last night drew a clear line between those who are civilized and those who defend civilization, and the 'other' non-civilized ones. Strange, how it sounds like English rationalizations for the conquest of Ireland 400yrs. ago.

Or is that not racism?

The article that you refer to was heavily cross posted across Indymedias. This one wasn't.

Frankly as Pat will tell you Indymedia doesn't have a policy on pro arab/pro israeli/pro american articles.

What we do instead is toss a coin at the start of the week, and decide which way we lean this week.

I thought you based the policy on an inspection of the innards of a freshly slaughtered gnu.

It could be good gnus or bad gnus.

As well all know Indymedia doesn't use real gnus, we make up gnus using tofu.

At least I think thats what BOC said.

Dear TPT,

we get anti-Muslim, anti-Arab, anti-Cuban and any amount of material supporting the line of the "civilised" world every day of the week.

It is rammed down our throats with no attempt at balanced discussion of the issues, but heaven help those who like the French government dare to have their own opinions!

Democracy ... HAH!

This article is anti-Semitic. This is not because of its content but rather because of its tone. It insults Jews both by comparing Zionism to Nazism and by being applied as a term of abuse for the current Israeli government.

If you are going to make arguments about Israel, I would suggest that you do it rationally and not in this dispicable manner.

To clarify: I am talking about use of the acronym 'Zionazi'.

This piece of thrash is most definitely anti-Israel and anti-Semitic. If this is not removed from Indymedia within the next hour, I, King Mob will be making an official complaint to the good officers of An Garda Siochana and they will have no hesitation in closing IMC Ireland down.
