When will militant republicans realise that their time has passed and the people will not tolerate their sectarian murder bids any longer.
Bomb disposal experts have defused a blast bomb which was thrown at the Woodbourne police station on the Stewardstown Road in west Belfast last night.
The device failed to explode after it was thrown over the perimeter fence of the security base at around 11pm. The device was discovered following a warning call to a Belfast newsroom.
The attack follows an recent upsurge in dissident republican activity and threat of further bombings from the anti-agreement Continuity IRA.
On Monday night, the dissident group bombed Enniskillen town hall in Co Fermanagh, causing minor damage to the building and slightly injuring six police officers.

This kind of action is futile. It will achieve absolutely nothing. When radicals get caried away they think violence is justified. There is not much differnece between these attacks and the attacks in Shannon. Both are acts of violence, and both have a distinct lack of public support. As we have seen many times before, peace movements become hijacked by the men and women of violence.
You compare the damaging of a Military Aircraft, which involved no violence even against military personnel)to a bombing which could have killed civilians?
Do you take yourself seriously?

Four incidents of vandalism at Shannon means the Irish taxpayer has to pay 1.5 million Euro for the damamges. We are now also faced with a massive bill for Army and Garda overtime at Shannon (thanks to Dubsky et al) money which will without doubt have to be taken from health & education budgets and mabey even our State contribution to Third World projects. Thats some achievement Pat, isn't it?
So it was only a plane (unarmed) damaged at Shannon. Ah well, sure it will only be a Mc Donalds shop smashed up next time. Or mabey some American factories in irleand being stormed and defaced with anti-war slogans. Sure its all so peaceful Pat. Get a grip on yourself man. Go back to your Sinn Fein buddies.
James, I think I can safely say that most people don't like violence either, but the
way you link bomb attacks in the North and damage to a warplane is just plain absurd.
I would have thought the purpose of the bomb is to cause death and injury, while the
purpose of the action in Shannon was to reduce death and injury.???
Anyway, passing over that and getting to your main point, you say violence is futile.
If that's the case, then is war futile in your opinion?

yes the Irish state has invested more in exploitation of the 3rd worlds resources then it gives in aid. I know as a kid i used cog my homework off the talentless type that as much inherited the brief of deciding "Irish governmental bilateral aid" to the 3rd world. Vandalism in your opinion not mine. I believe it shouldnt be paid. In any case Aer Riante have insurance to cover such events.

So why dont you oppose this deployment of the Army & Garda? I'm against such diversion of resources.

Not just a plane; it was a US Military Jet which was transporting supplies. If the resulting dislocation of the US War effort results in evemn one less Iraqi death, then its worth it.

Again, no one in the Anti war groups have suggested a general painting of slogans on US owned businesses. You seem to have such action on your mind.

If the Americans were to withold international law then such cost to our taxpayers would not be incurred . . .
If the Irish Authorities were to have any respect for their own people and dignity to enforce our own law the such cost would not be incurred . . .
The taxpayers money is now spent stopping the taxpayers themselves from doing what the taxcollecters should be demanding of their employees . . . by law.

As far as i understand Aer Rianta recovers its costs not from the US state dept, USAF or US navy but from the Irish Government. Thats you and me buddy!

I never voted for my taxes to be diverted into paying to protect an airport in my country to be used by foreigners, to wage on other foreigners. Why should Irish taxpayers have to foot the bill, to protect a foreign military presence using our airports. Why can't the americans buy this airport off us, protect it themselves and stop being such cheapstake miserly sponging freeloaders.
