Joe Duffy show allows lie on air
A caller to the Joe Duffy show this afternoon praised Mary Kelly for 'disarming' a US plane at Shannon. Joe did not correct this caller and did not make any subsequent clarification.
The plane was in fact not carrying any arms (as reported in the Press after the aircraft was physically inspected). I wonder was the caller referring to the coke and crisps that were on board for US navy personnel in Italy?
Anyway, those who wish to make a complaint may email either joe@rte.ie or complaints@rte.ie
Mr Peter Feeney, head of RTE Press Office was unavailable for comment ( I asked would he comment so that it could be published on Indymedia.ie)

How long after the plane was damaged did Brendan O'Connor visit and inspect it?
How come a journalist with no Hard News reputation or experience is the only Irish person so far (gardai and Airport Security included) to inspect the inside of a US Military plane at shannon?
Methinks the journalist had an agenda - or those that sorted access for him had.
An Army marchs on its stomach. Without supplies the war cannot be waged. This plane was an integral part of the US warmachine.
Mary did disarm it.
He's got rings on his fingers,
And bells on his toes,
He sings as he lingers,
And talks through his nose,
Yes, Brendan O'Connor's one o' they media hos.
Mary Kelly's symbolic destruction of the American War Machine has been hailed by Dan Berrigan as an act of compassion and justice. That so-called peace activists in Ireland cannot see this speaks to their dismal level of polical awareness, and not to the sophisticated courage of Mary Kelly and the Ploughshare 5. Liberal posturing and playacting will not defeat the Anglo-American imperialists and their Irish gombeen/comprador collaborators. That means Ahern. What is he now,..a lapdog to Bush's poodle. Is not Ahern and his collaboration with imperialism, North and South, an insult to the dignity of Irish people everywhere?
Trust Brendan O Connor to hone in on the Coke and Crisps!
whatever a plan is carrying to any miliatary base is part of the war machine , the army is all about _logistics_ so hamburgers are dangerous if they are to feed soldiers who in turn will kill...
You speak rhetoric about the act by Mary Kelly and the CW5 are showing how regular people are making a difference in an anti-war effort. They have done NOTHING!! Arrogance or stupidity (not sure myself) will tell you that you have disabled a war machine. If you truly believe this, I just lost any respect for the completely uninformed anti-war groups. I had first thaught this "effort" was from an informed and educated decision. I GAURENTEE THE CAUSE OF THE US WILL GO FOWARD ON THEIR TERMS NO MATTER WHAT IMPORTENCE YOU THINK YOU HAVE! Fight peacefully and you will be MORE successful even though I disagree with you on this subject.
