When a PhD on the "politics of smell" trended on X recently it exposed how elites use pretentious woke gobbledegook to exclude the people from power, much like previous generations used Latin and Greek, says Steven Tucker.

Consumer Action: Boycott Pubs day. Fri 28th February

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Wednesday February 12, 2003 12:42author by Markos - adhoc Report this post to the editors

Hit the brakes on Ripoff Ireland

Irish consumers are being ripped off. A report conducted last September indicates as much. Prices for alcoholic drinks are a staggering 59% (and rising) above the EU average according to a major international study. Irish pubs and nightclubs, especially those in Dublin, are churning out incredible profits. These profits, earned from the toil of the Irish consumer, can be explained by none other than total greed.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

You have a choice. You can put up with this ludicrous profiteering and continue to whinge about prices being too high, OR you can take action.

We propose a "National Boycott of Pubs/Nightclubs Day" throughout Ireland for Friday 28th/Feb/2003. It is about time the Irish consumer striked back.

And if this doesn't get the message across, we'll strike again with something even more drastic.

It will only work if everyone co-operates. And it can be done ...

Great idea, I usually bring my own bar in a backback into the pub most of the time as it saves me around 30 euros each time. Maybe drinkers would be up for taking to the streets with carry outs from the off-licence to further display our contempt towards the pub/shite club industry.

During the late 90's when most places demanded over 21's ID, me and my friends were left with nowhere else to drink but a lane down off Grafton St. It was actually really good fun but that's beside the point.

Anyway, taking to the streets in mass numbers may catch the atrtention of the government cause the Gards will be straight over. Maybe some improve seating to make the thing look a bit more credible. Wearing United jerseys may also give ther wrong impression.

...do you really think that the lazy pissheads who make up the majority of the Irish pub-going population are going to boycott the people that they willingly allow to rip them off?

Lets all boycott Ray for a day. Just ignore his self important ramblings.
