Statement from Limerick Prison
Two truths have been exposed:
1. The weapons systems are not secure. There have been 90 “Ploughshares” actions over twenty years and all communities have reached the weapon systems they hoped to disarm. Many of these disarmament actions have been carried out in higher security environments than Shannon airport.
2. The weapons do not secure us. The presence of the US war machine en route through Shannon to war endangers both Iraqi and Irish lives.
What was covert – the militarisation of Shannon airport – has now been made overt – with the deployment of Irish soldiers servicing the US war machine. This is the nature of prophetic action, to shine a light on the works of darkness. The idolatry of the Irish government that values cash over the sanctity of human life has also been exposed.
The Catholic Worker and Ploughshares remain pacificist. Disarming the war machine on the verge of a massacre remains a legitimate activity. Lies and slander about us from the rich and powerful remain predictable.

It takes courage to do this sort of thing. There are many who support you.
You struck a revolutionary blow! to heel with the political pygmies who are stabbing the CWM in the back. Or as Brendan Behan said: F*** The Begrudgers!
The Quare Fella also said:
"It's easy to spot the terrorist...he's the man with a small bomb..."
also
"I never saw a situation so bad that the presence of a policeman couldn't make it worse..."
(Quoting from memory, apologies...!)
