Todays announcement by World Airlines that it is pulling out of Shannon is accompanied by denials that it is as a result of the Peace Camp and Anti-War protests
They said they have workers in Frankfurt that were doing nothing and that the decision was taken before the present protests. But was it taken before the writing was on the wall in the Dubsky case? Or before Tim Hourigan reported the denied flights?
Vincent Wall of Aer Rianta said this evening that the revenue from all flights associated with the US Military through Shannon and ancillary revenue for 2002 was 9 million Euro.
This seems like a pathetic amount of money compared with the 60 Million Euro Minister Smith just spent on 10 new Pilatus PC-9M trainer airplanes. It wouldn't build the base of that stupid spire in Dublin. It wouldn't put the wings on that nice new jet Berti and Celia spend their evenings picking from the many glossy magazines on their glossy table. "Oh, Dat wans luvely Celia". "Ah, I don't know Bertie, the wings are real common".
It wouldn't pay for two of the 40 PIRANHA IIIH 8x8 vehicles they bought recently while closing hospital services
