US flights bypass Shannon over attacks
By Fionnán Sheahan
US military flights carrying thousands of troops were pulled from Shannon in the past week due to safety concerns following the attacks at the airport.
The decision is a major blow to the local economy in Shannon and the airport’s reputation internationally
Shannon stopovers by commercial airlines carrying military personnel were worth €9 million to Aer Rianta last year - 10% of overall revenue at the airport
Anti-war protesters dismantled the so-called Peace Camp at Shannon Airport yesterday.

The war on Iraq is all about jobs!???!
They wouldn’t be trying to divide and conquer the Anti-War movement would they? Will they succeed?
Are we that thick? Are the Anti-War egos as big as Bush/Bliar/ Cowen/Ahern/ Harney egos????? If they are we’re f*cked.

Jump To Comment: 1The Irish Independent had a very similar story on its front page. Surely any honest journalist would question the wisdom of allowing the airport to become reliant on business which is tied into the build-up of war in the first place.
Has the War Economy now become an acceptable part of economic planning in Ireland?
