It is a total disgrace that the Irish Army and the Lying Minister Smith have taken orders dierectly from Richard Haas. Shame on you Ahern , you scumbag and youy Smith you big thick shit.

As a nation we should be ashamed to have voted for these corrupt buffoons. We used to have a reputation for having an independent foreign policy, now these clowns Cowan, Brennan and Bertie are acting as the puppet rulers of a banana republic.

I have to object to comments regarding the Irish Defence Forces and the crass manner in which you attempt to deliver them.

It has been proved time and again that the Irish Defence Force has proved itself as a positive force with the United Nations and is clearly under the command of the Irish government and hence the people of Ireland. To suggest that it is taking orders from a foreign government is complete folly.

It’s a sad day in Ireland the Defence Force has to be deployed to protect vital installations. Whatever grievance’s the protestors had against the war in Iraq, it should have been done in a peaceful and law abiding manner.

However in contrary to this, it has been demonstrated on 3 separate occasions that the protestors are nothing more than hooligans bent on destruction. The Government of Ireland has taken the decision (rather lately in many eyes) to provide security for a vital installation. It should be noted that without military flights the local people of Shannon will suffer not the protestors. Shannon is open to all military flights (the Russians have used it during the cold war).

I find your contempt for the members of the Reserve Defence Forces equally disdainful. These people have taken an active part in the running of the state and are nothing but the highest calibre.

It’s a far cry from some of the protestors who have links to paramilitarys with all their evil trappings that we are only to well aware.

HA HA CRUSTY's GO HOME HA HA HA

You useless crusty smelly dole scrounging english cunts make me puke.

The US is Ireland's only international ally, and the only country that would step forward to help Ireland in a time of need

The US has fed and clothed this country for 200 years.

The US employs 90,000 Irish people in Ireland

The US has 500+ firms in Ireland

Why dont you protest at the suppression of the Iraqi people by Sadam Hussain ?

Why should I, a hard working taxpayer pay for you smelly crusty cunts, who are mostly english, to protest and collect dole which I pay for ?

Why should the Irish taxpayer now pay millions for your criminal acts of vandalism.

You smelly crusty dole cheating sumbags make me want to puke, your pathietic

Why don’t you get a job, and campaign for the many Irish homeless on the streets of Dublin, if your such do-gooders ?

REMMEBER 9-11 YOU SMELLY CRUSTY CUNTS ?

Remember 9-11 crusty's ?

Remeber all those innocent people ?

I hope the US wipes those mudering muslim bastards off the face the planet.

Maybe then I can get some cheap petrol.

LET'S ROLL . . . . . . . .

America is fighting muslim terrorism that threatens every westener, including Ireland. Just remember how you felt on 9-11, never mind how the yanks feel now.

Of course there are many problems with US foreign policy, and its very easy to pick out only the USA's faults, but we cannot forget the constant genorisity the USA has showed and will continue to show Ireland.

All the USA is asking, is to refuel some troop planes on this convienient little green snot they fly over, planes that could otherwise easily refuel in the UK anyway.

Yet some here turn it into a national debate and get their little rocks off telling the US to get stuffed because we drive 02 cars now ?????

Ireland has not been a stricly neutral country sinced it joined the EEC in 1973, so the neutrality debate is bullshit. Ireland is however a non-aligned county who has chosen rightly to assist in a very small way in the war on terror.

Sean, you are very wrong to attack the Irish soldiers. I, like many others, am totally disgusted that the Irish government has decided to deploy troops from Limerick to protect the US military machine. But I also understand that the individual soldiers involved have no say in the matter. Unlike you and me Sean, these guys can be courtmartialed if they open their mouth.

I'm sure your next word, or someone else will compare them to the ordinary German troops during World War 2 with the usual line about having a higher duty to their own conscience. What's different about this is that the Irish troops at Shannon are not willingly part of a war machine. They are there as an "aid to the civil power" - that's highly questionable too. There may be opening for a legal challenge.

Remember also Sean that most of these Irish soldiers are badly paid and have families to feed. I don't agree with their presence at Shannon, but I understand enough to know that they're sandwiched in the middle of all this.

I also support the sabotage of the US military and pseudo military planes, but lets leave the ordinary Irish soldiers out of this.

The schizofrenic nature of Bob's comments leads me to be suspicious about his sincerity. Sounds more like direct propoganda to me. Ever since the first hatchet attack on a US warplane in Shannon, this site has been blitzed by people with many different names but all with similar messages and similar tones:
the messages,
1. a pathetic attempt to link the peaceful protesters with a terrorist organisation (neglecting the massive terror perpretrated by the US over the decades);
2. attempting to suggest that the plane attacked was only a harmless "hamburger transporter" and thus the attack was worthless;
3. that destroying the inanimate objects that facilitate the destruction of human life is terrorism
4. we are so dependant on the US financially that we can't afford to assert our conscience (put almost as bluntly)

the tones,
1. hysterical rants
2. allegedly concerned

The post from sideshow bob combines both tones in one article with a strong emphasis on message 4. Just to demonstrate the incoherence of Bob, check these quotes:

"I hope the US wipes those mudering muslim bastards off the face the planet."
later
"Of course there are many problems with US foreign policy"

This shows that the writer is neither genuinely enraged, as suggested in the first half of their post, nor rational, as suggested (not very well) in the second part.

Beware that many posters to this site are state trolls (and not necessarily only from this state).
