Carol Cadwalladr's latest 'analysis' of what she calls the 'broligarchy' is a feverish mishmash of Trump Derangement Syndrome, cod feminism and Delingpole-esque levels of conspiracy theory gobbledegook, says James Alexander

Smoggie Queens shows how far BBC comedy has fallen, says Steven Tucker. Let's be honest, there's only one reason the corporation made this awful TV programme, and it's certainly not because it's funny.

INDYMEDIA CENSORSHIP

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Sunday February 02, 2003 23:37author by Ray Gun Report this post to the editors

Indymedia editor censors comments again

I note today that some articles supporting Brendan O'Connor have been removed by the Chief Indymedia Censor.

Why is it that Indymedia cannot accept anybody who doesn't agree with their view??????

Why are you such bullies??????????????

If you think Indymedia accept all opinions, think again.

None of the articles removed breached any of the publishing rules that are set out on the site, so I would like to hear from Ray on this one.

I printed it earlier today and have only now had a chance to read it. Spot on well said. I saw the protest yesterday, average age either 22 or else 60, I don't think you represent the public view and I did not recognise any local people in your march. And by the way I don't want a war either!

A serious allegation of libel has been made against Mr. O'Connor and the Sunday Independent. To date the allegation has not been refuted. If O'Connor and his newspaper make up libelous 'facts' against people has not Indymedia the option to take necessary action?

Mary, I was at the protest yesterday, and I'm 37 so I'm not sure if I should chuffed or pissed off by your very scientific average age assessment. Oh, and I live 20 miles away, so am I local enough to exercise my right to protest?
Ta.

Either George Harrison, the Patron to Sinn Fein, republican, is a convicted criminal or he is not. If he is, then Brendan O'Connor is accurate. If he is not then O'Connor has lied, is guilty of libel, and the Independent is an unreliable, scurrilous rag. Which is it? Brendan, what is your source?

author by Myrna Gonzalezpublication date Mon Feb 03, 2003 02:01author address author phone Report this post to the editors

George Harrison, renowned New York City grass-roots activist is not a criminal, Brendan O'Connor is a disreputable 'journalist' and a blatant liar, and the Independent is a scurrilous, dishonest, distorting, sleazy rag. These hacks, like O'Connor are paid to promote the interests of the Irish cultural, economic and political elite. Its the job of Indymedia to expose them for what they are. Free Mary Kelly! George Harrison was tried along with others like Michael Flannery for gun running in the early eighties. They were all aquitted. He has never been convicted of any crime.
