We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

Minister of Transport Brennan on Late Late Show

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Saturday February 01, 2003 21:01author by Brendan Mc Report this post to the editors

Fantastic to see Brennan, on last nights late late, being made an idiot out of by by some suit (Socialist Party?!) in the audience.

Nice to know that Brennan would not "feel too good" if it turned out that the US killed thousands of Iraqis and he had a hand in facilitating their military build up.

i take it you're referring to the young fella in the suit? As far as i know he's not sp - plus he made points about the UN which we would not agree with. i thought he was green or sinn fein. whatever, it was nice to watch nontheless.

The bald guy talking about insurance was Mick Murphy of the MIJAG campaign and SP candidate in the last election (dub south i think?) - at least i think it was him, i didnt see that part of the interview - i was in the bog (the shame) but me brother said there was some bald guy with a beard on talking bout insurance so i'm assuming it was indeed mick.

just to add to the last posting the guy who gutted Seamus Brennan on the LLS on Friday night was indeed Killian Forde Sinn Féin candidate for the Donaghmede Ward (Dublin North East)in the next local elections. Heard him on the local radio station this morning and did a good job on Fianna Fáils Deirdre Heaney. Keep up the good work Killian.
