Noel Treacy defends doing 95mph in 60mph zone
An insight into the minds of our Elected Masters is afforded by the statements made by Minister of State Noel Treacy defending his decision to incite his driver to exceed the (already too high) speed limit by 35mph. The linked article from the Independent contains the full details (Treacy Hogan, Environmental Correspondent).
Treacy's statement came _after_ warnings had been issued to Bertie Ahern and the Garda Commissioner about this type of behaviour by government cars following similar incidents with the Taoiseach's car (driven by an ex-Garda who had got the job after he hit a pedestrian and had been found culpable in that incident).
Obviously these people realise that they are not going to be punished severly for their crimes and misdemeanours. After all, the worst that will happen is that a Tribunal will be convened.
