Thank Lockdowns for the Worst Budget in History Sat Nov 22, 2025 13:00 | Will Jones
We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

Iraq has continued to contravene UN resolutions since the end of the Gulf war. Give Saddam room to move and he would do it all again.
Funny how there are no comments about this fucking Raghead paying suicide bombers to kill inoccents or his 'compensation' payments to dead, sorry splattered, bombers.
Saddam needs to be dealt with severly.
If you support him, get yourself over to Iraq and see what is in store for this tyrant.
This war is NOT over oil. It is over the wrongdoings of one evil son of a bitch.
Yes yes Saddam Hussein is a nasty man and I doubt you would find anyone to argue with you on that point. However, if you truly believe that the proposed war on Iraq is about UNSCR not being adherred to then you would be mistaken. What is the time schedule that you propose for attacks to occur on Tel Aviv. Because you do know that Israel has broken more UNSCR than any other country. This war has strong economic motives. Why did they live Saddam dormant for so long. Why suddenly has he become so important once again. Does he have weapons of mass destrucion? Most likely no. Is he a threat to American securtiy? Definitely not. Was he giving arms to Al Qaeda? No. Is there a lot of oil in Iraq? Yes. Does Saddam oppress his own people? Yes. Did the US support him when he was killing his own people? Yes. Does the US want to introduce democracy in Iraq? No. Why does the US want to invade Iraq? Well we've established it's not really UNSCR, human rights violations, the introduction of democracy or because the US has problems with dictators. I guess well all that really leaves is the economic gains to be extracted from such a war. I don't think that it is to difficult to see the reasoning behind such a war. Economy bad = distract the people with a nice war abroad. It's been done before. Russia messed up with Japan and lead to 1905. Maybe I'm just hoping too much but what I do know is that the US is going in for oil.
''Saddam needs to be dealt with severly.''
Stan, see how you have bought the propaganda? 'Saddam' (his name is Saddam Hussein) will not get bombed, his people will, however.
Why have more civilians died from US attacks in Afghanistan that people died in in the Sept 11th attacks? None of the Hijackers were Afghani.
Obviously Al Qeuada was there. But where is Osama bin Laden? Plus, the US promised to leave Afghanistan, now more than a year later and still there, the US is promising to withdraw from Iraq after a few months and promising Democracy in Iraq as well after the invasion.
Where's the democracy in Afghanistan?
The US has such little credibility these days.
However Europe as in the majority of European states have chosen to uphold the UN charter.
Attacking Iraq without the support of the UN security council is illegal.
Supporting the USA and the UK in such an attack would be illegal for Ireland.
Ireland is supporting escalation of US forces on the borders of Iraq.
Ireland is at odds with her european allies.
Ireland is at odds with her constitution.
Bush is a bad man too.
Ireland ought be supporting other ways out of this conflict.
It is most certainly about Oil and a family based psychological complex.
However Bush 2 is not Scipio Africanus minor.
he has no global legitamacy to lead this attack.
In over fifty years of policing the globe, the USA can not seriously be credited with increasing our sense of security, safety or indeed contributing to a happier world community.
The USA has failed.
Ireland has always had a habit of supporting the losing side.
This "war" may be understood as being a "just" war in irish america, london, dublin etc.,
however for those who live in Islam it is yet another attack on the global Islamic community.
They think this when they hear phrases such as
"crusade".
and "axis of evil".
Washington and Dublin and London have to remember that their sabre rattling is couched in vocabulary that is available globally via TV and internet and what might seem good to say in their homes is most certainly the worst thing to say in the homes of others.
To mangle Gandhi
"The americans are masters in others´ homes".
if one looks to Irish history one may see the bitter consequences of being "master" in someone elses home.
Congratulations to all who took part in yesterday's march. It was given quite a bit of time on Sky News and treated quite favourably. It showed Ireland to be one of the ever growing number of countries which is seriously opposing the upcoming war. Well, it shows the people are opposing the war, even if our cowardly government is worried of a slap on the wrist from Washington if they say or do anything about it.
I would ask everyone to try to get as many people as possible to come to the planned demo of February 15th to show the world the Irish people disagree vehemently with this war.
