Let's boycott the suppliers to the US at Shannon

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Monday January 13, 2003 11:13author by Paul O'Donnell

revive an old Irish custom

Last night's television coverage of the peace camp at Shannon Airport showed a "World" airways jet (US troop carrier) being refueled with TOP Aviation Fuel (TOP Oil - Tedcastle Oil Products with an address at Dublin 3 but with depots around the country.

TOP oil has depots and petrol stations around the countries. It also supplies coal and other fuel domestically. It is just one of the suppliers to the US warmongers at Shannon. Let's start compiling a list of the others and send them a message. BOYCOTT!

It was reported on RTE radio this morning, that Aer Rianta staff may refuse to
carry out work related to the handling of US troops passing through Shannon.

If they and the workers in the Oil terminals were to do this, it would be fanatastic
and help slow down the deployment a little bit. Even more importantly it would inspire
others in countries such as the UK to take similar action, as has already happened to
some degree when the trains drivers have refused to transport heavy armour and weapons
to one of the Scotish naval ports.

Does Aer Rianta manage Knock Airport because they are numerous reports that it is being
used also. It is ironic that an Airport built for travellers to a Holy Shrine should be
used for in support of murder and destruction.

Dublin, Cork and Shannon are Aer Rianta airports.
I haven't been planespotting at Knock.
If anyone fancies checking it out, be sure to bring warm clothes, a friend and mobile for support and some patience. I spent about 7 hours last night planespotting at Shannon and 4 illegal flights came in during that time, including a jumbo jet carrying cargo for the military.
sometimes you have to wait an hour or two, then three come at once.

I'll write more but I am exhausted.
Mad stuff happened there this morning. We need to pressure the Gardai to inspect these aircraft.
I went to ask what was on one of the aircraft.
There was just me and my friend (no ladders or anything) and all the airport police came out, and they kept driving the fire engines up and down past us. (They came out on to the airport road, outside the airfield to drive up and down past us repeatedly)
The APO who I spoke to would not answer any questions including his name, and would not produce his warrant card as required under the 1998 Air Transport and Navigation Act Part V, section 48, subsection 3.

Like Judge Managan during Dubsky's trial, I am rather skeptical that these are merely "hamburgers" as suggested by Inspector Tom Kennedy (Garda Siochana Inspector - although I see no evidence of him inspecting anything or guarding peace)

I'm knackered. expect an article later today when I wake up.

Tim.

The Tedcastle Oil Products website is as shown in the related link.

If it is true they are refuelling US warplanes, which they imply on their aviation webpage -see below
then why not click on the 'Comments' section on their website and let them know what you think.

Alternatively you can email them at info@top.ie or aviation@top.ie

At http://www.top.ie/set_avi.htm ...it says...

"Based in Shannon, TOP Aviation Fuels is responsible for the management of
the airport's high grade fuel and oil fuelling operations. The company also
works closely in conjunction with Aer Rianta to ensure the overall efficient
running of what is one of the largest airports in Europe.

Employing the very latest in technologically advanced equipment and operating
the most specialised fleet of fuel dispensing vehicles, the company offers a
world class service to carriers from every part of the globe which includes the
testing and certification of all fuels delivered to aircraft, through operators
trained to stringent internationally recognised quality and safety standards.

"Airforce One is a recommendation in itself. We work to the highest
standards required for world-class carriers"

.....so there you have it -Airforce One which belongs to the USAF and if this is
not an indirect way of saying the USAF recommend and use us, then I don't know what is!

In fact why not boycott all TOP oil filling stations!
