Belfast DJ arrested at Shannon Airport protest

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Sunday December 08, 2002 18:45author by Eoin Dubsky - Refueling Peace

A protester has just been arrested near the perimeter fence of Shannon Airport, I'm told, but was prompty released. The 31 year old man from Belfast came down with a group of at least twenty others from the North for the anti-war protest today.

An ATA L-10-11 (tristar) aircraft has just landed at Shannon Airport too carrying US troops. For a plane-spotting guide visit http://www.refuelingpeace.org ...and for information on plane-stopping please come to my trial in Tulla at 10.30 am on 18 Dec 2002.

The protest seems to be over for now at Shannon Airport, but no doubt monitoring and creative nonviolent actions will continue until the US military traffic through Ireland is stopped.
