Some plane speaking from Tim

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Friday December 06, 2002 14:34author by Limerick Lady

When you pass through Limerick for Sundays demo call in to a newsagents and get a copy of the Limerick Leader city or county edition. There is a three quarter page broadsheet profile of Tim Hourigan with the above title. Its actually quite a good piece, considering how conservative the newspaper usually is.

It’s difficult to know where to start, Tim, sorry Timothy is obviously one of our most prominent young aspiring politician, sorry activist. What with appearances on local radio and now been prominently featured in the local press, the sky is obviously the limit for Timothy. In future he will be operating on a higher plane. After the next local elections, we will no doubt be addressing him as Councillor Timothy. Reports are already circulating that Brother Dubsky is in a rage at having been eclipsed by Timothy and has descended to the level of sticking pins in a voodoo doll replica of Timothy. Given his new exalted position, Timothy reacted in a dignified manner when Brother Dubsky’s behaviour was brought to his attention, “Eoin who” was his very calm and reasoned response. We in Limerick are all very proud of Timothy, in the very near future, word of his ability will reach the great one in Dublin and he could very well be taken from us. I telling Trevor here and now that we won’t let him go.

N.B. In future, it will be necessary to make an appointment seven days in advance, (with his secretary) in order to speak with Timothy.

Des, nobody calls me Timothy!
But I'm getting such a "big head" from the press that I'll expect a chocolate digestive when I call to your house for that cup of tea!

The article is primarily about the campaign at the airport although the journo focussed it around me, primarily cos I ran in the election, and they keep bringing that up...

Hopefully, we can convince them to do
more on the peace camp and the people involved.
I offered the leader the photo of the MD-11 in Aer Lingus colours but they didn't seem that interested, but it is mentioned in the article.

giving the protesters side of things in the Limerick Leader which ran with a very silly piece the issue before the Referendum.
The suggestions made to the editor were:
1. right of reply for the protesters.
2. explanation of the wider European neutrality issues.

tis´a terrible rag in any case.
