Congratulations and well done on launching Indymedia Ireland! We really did need an Irish IMC instead of relying on IMC UK good and all as it was and still is. Keep up the good work!

this is not a bulletin board.
editors delete.
go right back to the beginning of the newswire and rationalise about 60% of your content.
and breach indymedia global charter in the process.

has often been attempted in not only Ireland but also Poland and Cyprus, and if I am not wrong the above Paul knew something about a former Irish campaign which foolishly included irish american citizens.
In the leadup to the EU constitution and the altering of nationality/residency tests for citizens throughout Europe the working conditions of Irish citizens abroad and the conditions that today's youth may expect abroad are changing.

I would like to link to http://www.indymedia.ie/newswire.php?story_id=25153 but i can not for it has been removed, some nine months after it's posting, this seems a most curious use of editorial privelage.

which as been removed by one of the editors for "not being news" as "not being a bulletin board".
Tomorrow the votes and "non-votes" of all registered as being born in the constituency of Catalonia will be counted.
CNT the anarcho-syndicalist union has issued a restatement of it's policy held since the 1st international in 1864 which is well known.
http://barcelona.indymedia.org/newswire/display/59724/index.php

I live in a neighbourhood where the majority of people have no right to vote, either in this constituency or that of their home. They are indeed economic migrants, and every week they send a large section of their economic power through the money exchange system to third world countries.

Their rights to nationality in Europe, their future rights to enfranchisement in Europe are subject to many threats not least the continuing inequalities in democratic participation in the present European member states and more worryingly in the future members.

If we are to move to any "legitimisation" of democracy and elections we _must_ have a means of registering the "non-vote".

Ireland has been left behind by many who have not found registration in other European states, and it would often be innapropriate for them to seek such, as they are amongst the most "migrant" of European peoples preferring to move on average every three years from one country to another.

The relationship of Ireland to it's disenfranchised belies more of the reasons why so many wish leave, than any hope that they might have to return.

If a reader would like to read the 1864 1st International statement on Voting and Anarchism
it is reproduced with succint comment for our times (from radio Kaos) at this address
http://barcelona.indymedia.org/newswire/display/59724/index.php
it's written in Catalan the traditional tongue of anarcho-syndicalism.
You will find a translation to Spanish the traditional tongue of Zapatism at the CNT website.

the moment all the "non-votes" are counted or acknowledged then democracy shall lose all credibility it has. Perhaps that is not newsworthy.

and will argue on your behalf on this one till my head falls off if necessary -
