The book is out of print at present but should be in libraries.
Músgluighidh, a bhrothuine na cruinne!
a dhíoghadh an ocrais, aire dhaoibh!
Tá an tuigsint ina buabhall buile
Saghdabh an duine chun malrait saoghail.
De shaen-ré na ngeasróg déanam casair,
Al na laincise, músgluighidh
Sinne nach faic muid, gheobhamuid gradam
An sean-reacht leagfar bus os cionn.
Sí'n troid scuir í, a bhráithre,
Éirighmis chun gnímh
An t-Internationale
Snaoidhm-comhair an cine daonn,
Sí'n troid scuir í, a bhráithre,
Éirighimis chun gnímh
An t-Internationale
A bhéas mar chine daonn.
What I posted above was just pulled off a website and I assume it's as was published in the book Pat mentioned.
Could be useful to put the modern spellings on it; Pat if you have any expertise in this area it would be great if you could give it a go, or anyone else who feels competent. between a few people we should be able to come to some agreed version..
my gaeilge aint good enough for me to dare revise caidhin (if this is his translation). i'll try & track down the book.
where did u find it iosaf
This is the link I copied from
http://members.aol.com/anbhuain/intl.html
Cites it as coming from the connolly column book and O Cadhain as the translator.
=I´m not Daithi and I´m not Pat C.
now the three of us know that.
weird eh lads?
but I´m recording remixing songs of the thirties at the moment and this translation really encourages me to expand the project to include a gaeilge internationale, suppose I´ll have to find singers now in Barcelona, but there is a good Irish speaking group. I´ll send it to them.
or someone over on BEO might be able to do it.
I think we need more gaeilge and translations here. Doesn´t have to be gaielge "ana mhaith" just get out your "cupla focail", coz most of us have a wee bit still. & as long as you´ve a wee bit you´re ok.
wait for the techno-tweedie-gaelgoirs!
:-)
mól na techno tweedie gaelgoirs
agus tiocfaidh siad!
to the question "new words":
Bagh Gearrachaí! Is breá an píosa Gaoluinne é -- an té a thuigfeadh é. Aistriúchán ar an Internationale an ea?
(
Scríobh Tomás Ó Criomhthain:
> Is deacair é a tionntú mar tá roinnt botún
> ann. Pé scéal é ba leasc liom a leithéid
> d'amhrán ba chúis leis na milliúin bás agus
> éirleach agus slad a thionntú go teanga shíoch mar
> an Ghaoluinn.
there u go
the techno-tweedy-gaelgoirs are online as much the techno-gobshite anarkists.
¿tis a great world we have isn´t it?
1,000,000,000 servers online.
2,000,000,000 people estimated by the World Bank as having computer access.
Microsoft trying to license everyone of the operations made on the internet.
And good auld Torvald Linux giving it all to us for free.
now you don´t need a computer to speak Gaeilge, sing the internationale or be an anarkist, but it gives you something to do when you stop smoking three grammes of heroin a day.
not that any of the techno-tweedy-gaelgoirs would ever do that, or the techno-gobshite anarkists.
but as for Torvald Linux, well the rumours....
"i don´t have the gaeilge for that either but I´ll give it a go.
