Young drivers from all over the Dublin Region will converge on the Green
Isle Hotel on the Naas Road this Thursday at 8pm to meet representatives of
the Political Parties about the cost of motor Insurance. "The main question
we want an answer to is what are the Politicians planning to do about huge
numbers of drivers with clean driving records paying three, four and five
thousand euro for Motor insurance" said Mick Murphy the National Organiser
of MIJAG the Motor Insurance Justice Action Group.
MIJAG has written to all the Parties asking for spokespersons to attend and
respond to Young Drivers concerns on this issue. The meeting is being held
in Mary Harneys Constituency where Young Drivers are running their own
Independent Candidate David Green in the May General Election.
"We strongly believe that anyone with a clean driving record should not have
to pay over €1,000 for motor Insurance and believe the Government have the
responsibility to bring the cost of Insurance in this Country in line with
rates charged in other Countries" Mr Murphy said.
