Warplanes out of Shannon

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Tuesday October 29, 2002 14:25author by Plane spotter

Another USAF Hercules landed at Shannon airport this morning, between 4 and 6am. It was still there, right in front of the viewing gallery, at 9am. It might still be there so if you go to Shannon today please take a picture (I didn't have a camera with me).

how about some water-colours or pen etchings?
It seems to me that when we eventually have enough photographs of the daily infrignements of neutral state airspace and airports around Europe by the USAF, we might as well explore all the parameters of aesthetic reportage.

Anyone live near enough (for instance in one of the nearby flats complexes) to put up a live webcam? Would be great if someone could do it...

its expensive but still possible to get hold of super8 film. We use it quite a bit when making documentaries and short movies, it works well when cut with 35mm.
If you are interested mail me, I´ll send you details on cheap supply and development options, the cheapest is a service in Paris.
I think Super8, webcam, digiphotos, and at least one watercolour would make a quite splendid exhibition one day.
IN fact I may just fill out an application right now to the Irish Arts council.

I've got a Pathescope Ace and some Popeye shorts. Could we upload them?

Lads, for those of you who still don't get it. The evidence from Shannon is collected as legal evidence. There is a court case, right?

and thus all evidence of infringements of neutrality must be collated with care.
However an aesthetic record and "fun" might not go amiss. There is no reason to discourage people from using different media to highlight the Shannon issue. Such projects could work in tandem with the legal case, and indeed if planned properly provide a fundraising opportunity. In my extensive experience such legal action is expensive.
