IT IS impossible to imagine two more different responses to the tragedy in Bali at the weekend than these. Leigh Hubbard was addressing a 30,000-strong rally in Melbourne last Sunday opposing George Bush's plan to wage war on Iraq. (The rally was ignored in every single major newspaper except The Age).

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3thinking that the USA declared "war on terrorism" being presently directed at state sponsered / assisted terrorist acts of islamic fundamentalist origin, Australia has no direct interest in provoking bad diplomatic relationships with the South Eastern Asian group of islamic states.
Australia though has more experience than most of multi-national terrorist organisations being the testing site for many of the AUM Shikira cults experiments with weapons of mass destruction. [it is suspected that AUM developed their Saron gas capability in Australia as well as the possible detonation of a nuclear device in 1998].
I don't know where you get that crap about Sarin gas...
But as for the rally - it was AT LEAST 45,000 - perhaps much more.
What happened in Bali was an appalling crime and must be condemned. The murders of approx. one third of the population of East Timor with the support of successive Australian regimes was genocide. People in glass houses etc. etc.
