The Video footage shown on rte last week had a scene where an elderly balding inspector wearing a yellow jacket is using a megaphone. around him gardai are beating people. the inspector could clearly see that the gardai were batoning people in a doorway as well.

this inspector may not be guilty of a criminal offence but is obviously in breach of garda regulations by failing to impose discipline on the other gardai. he could also be called as a witness by the defence & in any future civil or criminal cases against the gardai.

as this guy is clearly identifible:

1. someone make a complaint about him to garda complaints board & to the garda investigating the affair. (with video eveidence they wont be just able to dismiss it out of hand)the best placed person to make this complaint would probably be the camera operator.

2. get him called as a defence witness to explain in court under oath as to why he didn't stop the assaults (again video evidence will make it difficult for him to commit prjury)

3. keep him in mind for future civil/criminal cases.
