Barrett is mistaken about

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Thursday October 10, 2002 19:12author by Destination Warsaw

It will be Business relocating, mainly IT companies not workers coming here

Mr. Barrett is an ignoramus and has done a lot of damage to the No Campaign with his nonsense about workers coming here, the fact of the matter is that there will be many companies moving after out of Ireland after the accession of cheaper Eastern European countries. A huge amount of software companies will be moving to Eastern Europe to avail of the low wages, low rates of corporation tax and well educated labour force there. After the accession of these countries a lot of software engineers and programmers will find that they are surplus to requirements and this is one of the reasons that business is so keen to get Nice passed before their workforce find out the truth. Is there any IT or in house company bulletin boards or IT forums that people know about? Does anyone have contacts with any of the Intel 4000 employees or thousands more in Sandyford Industrial Estate or Citywest. If so perhaps they would be willing to break the silence on this issue.

Barrett hAS GOT IT WRONG OF COURSE ABOUT IMMIGRANTS, of course the multinationals will follow the cheap labour and relocate to EE. But it is being kept a secret during Nice, just as it was during NAFTA, however not long after the yes wins....bye bye intel and microsoft workers, there are cheaper serfs to be found in E.Europe
