Shelley is OUR poet

Where has Shelley gone?

Shelley wrote of women: Men of glory in the wars - things whose trade is, over ladies to lean, and flirt and stare, and simper. Till all that is divine in woman grows cruel, courteous, smooth, inhuman, crucified 'twixt a smile and a whimper.

Nobody writes a book on Shelley because there are profit margins and money to be thought about. Those who think about poetry for commercial gain would not seek to remind people in this new air-brushed version of Irisk history that it was a colonialist rather than tribal war in Ireland.

Instead the author surely understands that every new generation must discover Shelley anew. Not just because the poetry is outstandingly beautiful, but because everyone who wants a better world today can learn from those who fought for one in the past.

When I see the cynical comments that this account received and the spurious reason for removing it, along with the numerous other cynical, hateful and hurtful articles printed here in the past, Shelley is in my thoughts - "If winter comes can spring be far behind"
