why does De Rossa support the Nice referendum after opposing the Maastricht and Amsterdam treaties?

why does De Rossa support the Nice referendum after a whole lifetime of opposing the EU including opposing the SEA, Maastricht and Amsterdam treaties? Is there something more positive in Nice that the rest of us have missed?
