The industrial dispute involving over 120 Superquinn butchers - members of SIPTU - over an 8% pay rise has been resolved, following a hearing in the Labour Court yesterday afternoon, said Brendan Carr, Branch Official with SIPTU’s Dublin Food Branch.
“Following a hearing of the case by the Labour Court, the Court recommended that our members’ claim for an 8% pay rise should be met in full, and that it be backdated to September 1st 2001 – the date on which colleagues in Superquinn received a similar a pay rise”, said Mr. Carr.
“This means that the action taken by our members in pursuit of their claim has been fully vindicated.
“The recommendation will be put to a general meeting of all butcher members this afternoon – September 10, with a strong recommendation from the strike committee for acceptance,” he concluded.
