CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE BIN TAX
DEFEND THE NON-PAYERS
PROTEST AT THE DISTRICT COURT,
BRUNSWICK STREET (THE OLD RICHMOND HOSPITAL)
FRIDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER AT 10.00AM

Four householders have been summonsed to the District Court for non-payment of the bin tax for 2001. This is a serious escalation in the campaign with Dublin City Council making the first moves to prosecute working people for not paying double taxation.

It begs the question, where are the summonses for all the tax evaders that have hived off their wealth in the Ansbacher accounts? Why are working class people penalised when we have already paid over 87% of the total taxes in this country?

We need to get hundreds of supporters of the Campaign Against the Bin Tax down to the first court cases. The campaign's legal team will be representing the people involved who have all indicated their willingness to fight the case.

We are in a very strong position. The latest figures from the City Council show that the non-payment rate is very high - last year they collected only 45% of the bin charges due and this year it is as low as 20%.

This battle can be won if we stick together and get more and more of our friends, workmates and neighbours involved. It will be impossible for them to take us all to court.

Get down to the court case for Friday 20TH September at 10.00am. Go to the old Richmond Hospital on Brunswick Street, now used as a District Court.
