Protest at the political arrests of anti-water tax protesters
An anti-water charges meeting in Ard Mor tonight in West Tallaght has called this protest for Thursday in response to the arrests of anti-water charges protesters and other communities have taken up the call.
Join us at the Department of Justice and Equality, St. Stephen's Green, Dublin 2 at 18.30.
An anti-water charges meeting in Ard Mor tonight in West Tallaght has called this protest for Thursday in response to the arrests of anti-water charges protesters other communities have taken up the call.
These arrests are a serious attack on the right to protest. Massive Garda resources are being used to criminalise protest and communities in Tallaght. This is clear political policing - the aim is to strike a blow against the anti-water charges movement which threatens not just the government's water charges, but their whole austerity agenda. We must mobilise in protest now to demand an end to this attack on democratic rights.
The protest in Dublin has been called for 6.30pm on Thursday at the Department of Justice at Stephen's Green. We are calling on anti-water charges activists outside of Dublin to organise protests at appropriate public places in town and city centres on Thursday evening too.
We must stand together to demand:
The arrests should stop immediately - we will not be criminalised.
Defend the right to protest.

it seems that the arrest of certain political elected activists are more media important, worth of cause than others, who were also arrested
lets us be quite clear that this plays into the hands of the political establishment. do those elected political activists believe that they are the voice of the many who are opposed to the water charges. that Marx appeared to enlighten them
we have to state that the only way of defeating the water charges, is of people coming together, opposing macho voilence at protests. also by working with people in local areas/communities. in non sectarian manner
any wonder that the mercarnies employed through private firm can install water meters
