(13:12) A French tourist has become the latest victim in a spate of attacks on foreigners in Ireland. Gardaí say the man was stabbed in the back by an attacker who attempted to steal his mobile phone. The tourist was admitted to hospital for treatment and was discharged. The knife attack took place in Parnell Street in Dublin's inner city yesterday evening. Two hours later, a man was repeatedly stabbed when he intervened in a row between a man and a woman outside a pub on Dorset Street in Dublin. The victim was admitted to hospital where his condition is described as serious.

Fair point Ray, but dont forget GR and more importantly joe needs the publicity. Have you heard about the phrase 'not letting the truth get in the way of a good story' Expect more of this from comrade joe at least until he grows up, gets sense and goes to his rightful home in the labour party.
the first commentator is probably right. I lived near parnell street for a little while and sadly it just happens to be a particularly dangerous area late at night and I've seen many attacks and fights in the small hours. It's not a great impression of ireland to give to tourists, but I would reccommend to anyone visiting Ireland that there are certain places in Dublin you just DO NOT go alone at certain times, especially if you don't know the area.
