The Near Media Co-op is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its inauguration in March 2013. To mark the occasion a conference on the subject of “Social Justice Media – Examining the Evidence, Exploring the Possible”, will be held on 9th March 2013 at the brand new Parnell’s GAA club in Coolock

This shall be a fascinating and thought provoking event looking at the evolution of media in Ireland over the last 50 years and how it treats issues of social justice within our community. We will have contributors who are experienced and active in media and in social justice circles. The conference will also be an interactive event embracing all new facets of social media. Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend one of the planned “bubble sessions” informing on such topics as: Citizen Journalism; Media Literacy, and Community Television.

If you have an interest in all walks of media you are invited to attend. If you are engaged in issues of social justice you should be there. If you have something to say in the future media treatment of social justice issues please be there – you will have an opportunity to have your voice heard.

The conference aims to educate as to how media needs to put issues of social justice to the forefront of media conversation. It is intended that a declaration to this effect will be drafted during the conference and publicised as much as is possible. This is your opportunity to contribute to such a declaration.

More information about how to register to attend the conference will be posted soon.

Email: conference2013@near.ie for more information.

We look forward to your contribution on the day.
