Shell paid an out of court settlement of $15.5 million in Wiwa v Shell case
A stalwart group from Shell to Sea in Mayo do not let Shell forget Ken Saro-Wiwa and his eight comrades who were judicially hanged 10 November 1995.
A group from Shell to Sea Mayo made the 400 mile round trip to Dublin to make sure that Shell will not be allowed to forget the fact that nine men were judicially hanged and that many people worldwide still believe this was done at the behest of Shell. In 2009 Shell paid an out of court settlement of $15.5 million in Wiwa v Shell which they called a humanitarian gesture but it was money well spent because it kept murky details out of open court.
