Marian Price is being held in isolation by the northern secretary of state, Owen Patterson, despite being freed on bail by the courts and in spite being too sick to appear in court.

Dublin City Council passed a motion calling for the release of Marian Price in July 2012. A number of prominent people and TDs have published a petition for the freedom of Marian Price in July 2012 also.
The Free Marian Price Dublin Committee is a voluntary group.

It is truly a shocking injustice what has been done to Marian Price, interned without trial by British rule here and kept in total isolation for so long and seriously ill as a result. I hope & pray that Marian regains her health, I am aware that she's very ill at the moment and not able to attend or comprehend any court hearing of trumped up charges. God bless Marian and her family, it's a truly awful time for them all and my thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

I am glad Dublin City Council has passed a Motion calling for Marian's immediate release, and I hope that as many people as possible will be in attendance at the solidarity march in Dublin on 15 September for Marian Price.

Free Marian Price!

Irish Republican and supporter of the 32 County Solidarity Movement, Marian Price was arrested and imprisoned in May 2011 at the behest of the Northern Ireland Secretary of State Owen Paterson, Tory MP and staunch supporter of the Royal Irish Regiment. Her “crime” was to have allegedly held up a piece of paper from which the “Easter message” of dissident Republicans was read out at a commemoration in Derry City cemetery. Marian Price, 57, has long been in the cross-hairs of the British state. In 1973 she was accused of being a member of the IRA unit that carried out the bombing of the Old Bailey. After being given two life sentences, she and other alleged members of the unit, Gerry Kelly, Hugh Feeney, and her sister Dolours, spent 200 days on hunger strike. Marian Price was brutally force fed for 167 of those days.

We should stand up against mistreatment by the state whether regardless of our political or personal opinion about the person being mistreated.

And if we don't, then we have no right to expect people to come to our assistance when we are the ones being mistreated.

This letter was written by PSF member Justin Moran, on behalf of Amnesty International:

A reply from Amnesty International Re: Marian Price interned as a political hostage by the British Government.

Hi Terry,

Amnesty International endeavours to monitor conditions in prisons in the North to the degree that our limited capacity allows, and we have long been aware of Ms Price's case. I'm afraid at the moment we are not currently in a position to intervene.

Partly, this is because we have do not have detailed information on Ms Price's condition, but also in part because as a human rights organisation, we work within the confines of international human rights law. The legal threshold for for compassionate release or release under humanitarian grounds in law is really very high.

It also appears that while Ms Price's condition is undoubtedly serious, and possibly even worsening, she is receiving the necessary medical attention from the authorities. There also doesn't seem to be, as far as we are aware, a medical recommendation that she be released, from say the prison doctor or other independent health care professional, as the only way her medical needs could be met.

We continue to monitor the situation closely, and if any of the issues mentioned above change, we would re-examine the situation, but at the moment we are not in a position to divert resources from other campaign work to this case.

Justin

Amnasty are total scumbags for writing that letter.

Without question it proves that they are now nothing but the tools of the establishment.

Boycott their shops!
