Horse Racing Kills. Press Release The racing venture and racecourse proposed in China will require 600 to 800 horses for its inaugural year, which is targeted to have approximately 40 race days. This venture is to be stocked with broodmares from Ireland, while stallions will also be sent out. Also it does not seem to matter to Taoiseach Enda Kenny that Hong Kong is the only venue on Chinese soil where betting on horses is legal and that authorities are unlikely to legalise gambling on the mainland anytime soon. While Ireland has no agreement regarding the export of horses, according to the DOA the changes are being drafted now. |

Where there's money to be this government don't care
Due to the Daily Mail's incorrect information the other day, I felt I had to correct the articles running the information from that newspaper. Chinese activists have campaigned long and hard for years to end animal circuses and also live feeding of animals to other animals in zoos. Their campaigning paid off last year in January 2011 NOT January 2012 when animal circuses in all 300 owned by the state were banned. They also banned the live feeding of animals to other animals at the same time.
Whilst I agree that animals should not be exported to any country, I felt I owed it to the Chinese campaigners who work tirelessly every day, risking arrest and the members in my group who do all they can for the animals. There are over 212 KNOWN Animal welfare/rescue orgs in China and a draft law for domestic animals (there already is a law in place for wild animals) is due to be passed next year in 2013.
If anyone wants proof of the ban being brought in in January 2011 and not in january 2012 please email me at karaoke-queen@hotmail.co.uk or join my facebook group for up to date information on China's and other Asian countries Animal Activists.
