Boycott the ESB - Switch Service Providers - Say it, Mean it, Do it!

Tuesday 4th October 2011, 12pm – 2pm at ESB offices, St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2.

Come and show your support for Teresa Treacy and your 'contempt' of the ESB decision to have Teresa Treacy jailed.

Demand that the ESB ask the court to release Teresa Treacy in order that this dispute be settled reasonably.

Meet outside the ESB offices at St Stephen's Green in Dublin beside the ... em ... Anglo Irish Bank HQ (if the irony doesn't kill you) near the Shelbourne Hotel.

The Teresa Treacy Support Group is organising a demonstration of support for Teresa Treacy at the ESB International office in Dublin.

ESB International (or ESBI as it's known) commissioned and planned the Cushaling – Thornsberry 110kV line through Teresa Treacy's land. ESB Networks will construct, manage and operated the line with another operator, Eirgrid. It's a little confusing. The ESB say that their different companies are separate and distinct but, in fact, they are all connected as the ESB Group.

Release Teresa Treacy Now

The Teresa Treacy Support Group is calling on the ESB to release Teresa Treacy from jail.

In the same way as the ESB applied to the High Court for Teresa's committal, the ESB are legally entitled to apply to the court for her release. A suspension of the work to allow fair and proper negotiation would be good grounds for her release.

The Teresa Treacy Support Group is also calling on supporters to boycott the ESB by switching service providers.

The Commission for Energy Regulation website provides information on alternative electricity suppliers here : http://www.cer.ie/en/electricity-retail-market-licences...e4d34

Supporters of Ms Treacy are being encouraged to email the ESB at service@esbelectricireland.ie with their account numbers to tell them they will be switching providers unless the ESB stop work on Teresa Treacy's land and return to the court immediately to apply for her release from Mountjoy Prison.

In an ironic twist of fate it turns out that the ESB office is located beside the offices of Anglo Irish Bank, whose corrupt practices started the collapse of the Irish economy and the loss of our economic sovereignty.

The Mail online put it this way in this article ( http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2038740 ) - “It is a turn of events that has left her family and many ordinary people across Ireland open-jawed with disbelief. While the bankers, developers and politicians who ruined the country enjoy lives of comfort, a little old lady is sent to prison for trying to stop trees being cut down. Worse still, her jail sentence is indeterminate. Until she agrees to let the ESB chop down her trees, she will stay in prison for ‘contempt of court’.”
