On the 15th of May last year, Éirígí staged a protest on and outside the Anglo Irish Bank. The gardaí, led by Superintendent Joe Gannon (of Shell To Sea fame), were brutal in their response. The final trial has been heard.

The police went out of their way to be brutal. They ignored their duty. And they were on their best behaviour because Superintendent Joe Gannon was there, directing things.
In the final trial, that of Daithí Mac An Mháistir, the gardaí attempted to lie their way to a conviction. Even Gannon was summonsed. And the judge, a Judge McDonnell pinned his own vibrant colours to the mast.
